AITI Collaborates with PUJA Academy to Raise Awareness on Personal Data Protection

On 10th March 2025, the Authority for Info-communication Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), in collaboration with PUJA Academy, conducted an insightful seminar titled “Personal Data Protection Order by AITI” at the Public Works Department Headquarters. The seminar, attended by over 64 professionals from the engineering, surveying, and architecture sectors, provided essential guidance on personal data protection and compliance.

Representatives from AITI’s Data Protection Office delivered an in-depth overview of the Personal Data Protection Order (PDPO), which regulates the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data by private sector organizations. The session aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate compliance requirements while ensuring the protection of personal data within their respective industries.

A key focus of the seminar was the principle of data minimization, emphasizing the importance of collecting only necessary personal data and recognizing individuals' rights under the PDPO. Organizations were also encouraged to proactively review and enhance their internal personal data protection policies and practices in preparation for the enforcement of the PDPO.

AITI remains committed to supporting businesses and professionals in understanding and implementing the PDPO, ensuring that Brunei's private sector upholds the highest standards of data protection.
