Public Consultation on Sector-Specific Advisory Guidelines on Personal Data Protection Order

AITI held a three-day Public Consultation on the Proposed Sector-Specific Advisory Guidelines on the Personal Data Protection Order for stakeholders in the private sector at Dewan Seri Kerna Hall, AITI.
The objective was to provide guidance on how the proposed law will apply to each sector and to seek views on unique circumstances of the management of personal data faced by specific sectors.
AITI received valuable feedback from representatives of sectors such as Telecommunications, Financial and Insurance, Healthcare, Real Estate, Social Services and Education, which have all been taken into consideration in the development of such guidelines.
The guidelines are targeted to be published in 2025.
Public Consultation Paper on Personal Data Protection Framework for the Private Sector in Brunei Darussalam

AITI has released a Public Consultation Paper (PCP) on Thursday, 20 May 2021 to obtain feedback from Government agencies, private sector organisations and the general public on the proposed data protection framework for private sector in Brunei Darussalam. The framework aims to improve trust between individuals and organisations by recognising both the rights of individuals to protect their personal data and the need of private sector organisations to collect, use and disclose such personal data.
At the close of the Public Consultation on Personal Data Protection for the Private Sector in Brunei Darussalam, AITI received the following submissions from the industry and interested parties.
